Ok, this post might be a little late as it happened one the first week of January, but here it is, I FINALLY GOT MY BRACES OFF! Yes! The day I’ve spent the last 1 year plus, waiting for. Of course, I’ve grown somewhat attached to them, and I couldn’t wait for that day to finally come.
Went for my dental appointment yesterday before work. Although I was a tad late, the dentist made me wait for over an hour for my turn! Letting 4 people and 1 girl who came after me go in first. Truth be told, I was royally pissed. I honestly would not have cared much except that I needed to get back to work!
My man was away for the weekend, so this typically means me in my pajamas, with unwashed hair, playing Team fortress 2 all day. For two days. But not all is play though, time has come to tighten braces yet again.
Before going for my dental appointment, I had a tuition class to get to. Now, this boy, has been one of my greatest success stories as a tutor so far. When I first took him, he was failing Science, and failing really bad. Flash forward 2 years, he’s now giving me grades like this:
I am sooooo darn proud of him! Feeling like a proud mummy while doing pirouttes.
So after class, I needed to rush for my dental appointment. This month, I chose light pink at the top, and light blue for the bottom, seeing that it’s Easter soon. This time, the dentist added some new wires on my canines. No idea what that is, since when I looked into the mirror, the braces look pretty much the same as before.
It did however, feel a lot tighter than usual. By the next day, my bite just feels weird and it does hurt slightly when I chew.
After the appointment, it started to rain real heavily and I needed to cross a traffic light to get to the train station. So I thought, why not just wait for the Green man, and then try to make a dash for it? Totally forgetting I was wearing jelly flip flops.
To those who have no idea what jelly slippers are, they are totally in trend now in Singapore.
Pretty, as you can see, with the glossy rubber on ALL surfaces of the slipper. So without thinking twice, when the Green man turned on, I made a dash for it and immediately regretted my decision. See, since its all glossy and shiny, it also means its slippery as hell when its wet.
So yea, the slipper slipped out(pun not intended) of my feet while running across the road, in front of many cars, others who were crossing the road with me, in town. Not once, but TWICE!
Its like my left foot saw how embarrassed I was the first time when the right one came out, that it thought it might be fun to do it on the other foot.
Anyone one got any embarrassing moments to share? Comment down below so I dun feel like the only awkward soul here.
Phew! What a weekend!
This whole weekend has just been so hectic, it’s even difficult to breathe.
So I went to tighten my braces again after a tuition class on Saturday, and gosh was it painful. It definitely wasn’t as painful as the very first time putting it on, but I haven’t experience this pain in a long time! So I went with pink and red this time, red for Chinese New Year, and pink for Valentine’s Day.
One would agree, that 2014 has been terrible so far, and boy am I glad that its over. Though I have gained many, others have lost greatly. 2014 is for one, the worst year for aviation history, as well as for Malaysia. From MH370 being lost and not found till now, MH17 getting blown up over Ukraine, flooding in Taman Negara, Malaysia and now the AirAsia flight crashing at sea, killing hundreds. The Ebola outbreak has reached a death toll of thousands, followed by Typhoon Hagupit in Phillipines, leaving thousands homeless. I have to be really grateful to Singapore, for being my shelter despite all the resentment and culture dilution.
Much condolences to the families of the victims, my heart goes out to you guys.
However, the new year is coming in less than 24 hours. My company felt that it will be a good idea for all staff to do a short write up of their achievements for the year 2014 and resolutions for 2015, and for me to take on the
futile task of creating a yearbook. Cliché much? Baby I know. Resolutions are mostly broken by February. However, I can’t help being sucked into the fun of creating resolutions. So here are mine. Continue reading
Ok, I get it. I totally forgot to blog about my braces. Honestly, I’m so used to it that I actually forgot that they were there. Even the last braces appointment didn’t hurt. I was bracing myself,
as winter is coming, having to be on soft diet, the few days after tightening, but that, luckily didn’t happen.
I did, however, manage to see the face of my ever enigmatic dentist! To be honest, i have never seen his face as it was always hidden behind a surgical mask. Then i had to ask him if diving would affect the braces, with regards to air bubbles and shit. Paranoia much? Pardon, but i needed to hear it from a real dentist!
Ok, maybe i was too gung-ho in the beginning. Totally regretted saying that it doesn’t work. I woke up on the 2nd say to a shredded mouth and soreness beyond words. I couldn’t handle anything more solid than mashed potatoes, so have been on a liquid diet for about 3 days.
I know the whole deal about having to put orthodontic wax when a particular bracket is annoying, but thing is, I can’t figure out which exact bracket it is!
And the soreness, oh my gosh, the soreness, i had to sit through seeing my boyfriend and friends chewing burgers, fries and steak while i ate only mashed potatoes. On a positive note, I can kinda feel the teeth moving, which means all this pain is going to be worth it. So i got that going for me, which is nice.
